Tanzania Drives Kenya Electricity Exports to Record Highs
Kenya’s electricity exports hit record highs in the final quarter of 2025, marking a structural shift in regional power trade after years of limited cross-border sales. Total exports rose from 26.13 GWh in October to 52.11 GWh in December, the highest on record. The surge was driven by rapidly rising shipments to Tanzania following the full operational ramp-up of the 400 kV Isinya–Singida interconnector, with Tanzania accounting for more than 96% of December volumes.
Kenya Pipeline Extends IPO Bank Guarantee Deadline
Kenya Pipeline Company has revised settlement terms for investors using Irrevocable Bank Guarantees in its IPO, extending the final payment deadline to March 6, 2026 from March 5 after approval by the Capital Markets Authority. The update, issued on February 18, comes a day before the offer closes and lengthens the bank settlement window to 48 hours while tightening assignment rules on guarantees.
