National carrier Kenya Airways has announced the appointment of Ms. Carol Musyoka, Dr Martin Oduor-Otieno and Mrs Esther Koimett as non executive directors of the company effective immediately.
Ms Musyoka and Dr Oduor will represent the interest of KQ Lenders company (a consortium of 10 Kenyan banks) which now holds 38.1% stake in the airline after converting their USD 217.2 million debt into equity. On the other hand, Mrs Koimett will represent the government.
About Carol Musyoka
Ms. Musyoka currently provides consulting services for a number of companies. She also sits on other boards including BAT Kenya, East African Breweries Limited and SOS Children’s Villages. She also chairs the board of the recently constituted Business Registration Services, under the Attorney General’s office.
Carol Musyoka has over 10 years of financial leadership experience working in Kenya and the US.Her executive management and board experience includes her role as the Corporate Director, Barclays Bank of Kenya as well as the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Sidian Nank (Formerly K-Rep Bank).
Carol is a holder of a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Law degree from Cornell University, USA.
About Martin Oduor Otieno
Martin Luke Oduor-Otieno is an accountant, businessman, and former bank executive.
From 2007 until 2012, he served as group chief executive of Kenya Commercial Bank Group, Kenya’s largest bank in term of assets. Between May 2013 until March 2016, he served at Deloitte Kenya, as a senior advisor in the financial services division. In March 2016, he left Deloitte and took up an appointment as a non-executive director of Standard Bank Group, the financial services conglomerate based in South Africa. In August 2016 he founded Leadership Group Limited, a firm that offers coaching to businesses and individuals in the areas of leadership, governance, strategy and execution.
Ms Esther Koimett
Mrs. Koimett is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from the University of Nairobi. She has held various senior positions in Government and the Parastatal sector, including being the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism. She is currently the Director General Public Investment and Portfolio Management, National Treasury.
