Sameer Africa Names Peter Gitonga as New Managing Director

Sameer Africa Plc has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Peter Gitonga as the new managing director of the company with effect from 1st January 2021. Sameer Africa’s board of directors confirmed the appointment on 5th February 2021. Mr Peter Gitonga has been the acting managing director at Sameer Africa Plc since August 2019 when the former director Simon Ngigi resigned.

Mr. Gitonga will lead the company to achieve its four-year strategic plan which involves reviving the tyre business and investing in the real estate portfolio. Sameer Africa aims to expand its business by focusing on the two major revenue earners, the tyre business and the real estate business.

Mr. Peter Gitonga joined the board of Sameeer Africa as a non executive director in 2005. As a non-executive director, he served in the nominations and remuneration committee and the finance and investment committee of the board. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU) and a Master of Science in Strategic Management from the same university.

Mr. Gitonga has extensive knowledge about the tyre business and valuable experience in senior leadership roles, skills that will be useful in his new role. The board of Sameer Africa congratulated Mr. Peter Gitonga on his appointment.
