    Equities Market

    The benchmark NSE-20 Share Index was down 3.50 points to close at 3,839.29 points. The All Share Index (NASI) was up by 0.09 points to close at 141.86 points. Turnover stood at KES 477.167 Mn. 1,297 deals were executed. A total of 21,423,000 shares were traded. Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 73.7% of total market buys and 56.9% of market sales.

    The chart below is a 5yr chart of the NSE 20 Index, it is evident that the benchmark index is at 3 year lows, we are undoubtedly in a bear market. Using the RSI (Relative Strength Index) the NSE 20 Index is oversold and contrarians may argue that pockets value can be sought amidst the ongoing turmoil in the market thus buying opportunities may present themselves.

    Fixed Income Market

    The debt market had a turnover of KES 2.709Bn in today’s trading session. 9 deals were executed. Trading was heavily concentrated on notes below 10 years, with a total value of KES 2.1Bn (77.5% of turnover) traded on the one year bonds.
