Facebook to expand job search feature to over 40 countries

Facebook Inc. has announced that it is expanding the ability to apply to jobs on its social media platform to over 40 countries including Brazil, UK, Spain, Germany. The feature was originally limited to the United States and Canada when it rolled out last year. The company said the motivation behind the move is that it wants to help local businesses by facilitating the hiring process.

According to Facebook’s statement, users will be able to access a dashboard where they can search for jobs and submit applications. It also allows applicants to communicate with their prospective employers via the platform’s messenger feature. Conversely, businesses can post job ads directly to their pages, manage applications and schedule interviews.

“We know there is more Facebook can do to connect people and businesses. Since 2011, Facebook has invested more than $1 billion to help local businesses grow and help people find jobs. And in 2018 we plan to invest the same amount in more teams, technology, and new programs,” said the social media giant.
