Truecaller, an app which allows people to see who’s calling and filter out spam calls and SMS, has announced the opening of its Kenya office which will also serve as its Africa headquarters.
“A few months ago, our team went scouting for location and talents, and we’re excited to announce today that we’ve decided to open an office in Nairobi, Kenya!” The company said in a statement.
Truecaller app also revealed that they have hit 6 million users in Kenya which is a growth of more than 35 percent over the last one year. In Kenya, Truecaller app says its blocking and filtering out more than 4.4 million calls, and 14 million spam SMS on a monthly basis in the country.
The tool currently has more than 50 million users in Africa and identifies more than half a billion calls on a monthly basis in the region.
The company has also hired Zakaria Hersi to spearhead its expansion in Sub-Sahara Africa. Mr Zakaria has worked with a number of tech companies including eBay, Match.com, and OLX.
