Interactive children broadcaster Zoomoo has expanded to Africa via MultiChoice’s entertainment platform DStv. The international pay-TV channel will give access to over 450 hours of children content focusing on education, conservation and nature to DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact packages.
Accompanied by the free ZooMoo App which kids can download on their devices, this channel offers a complete multi-screen environment, synchronized on a real-time basis with the channel. The Pop-up channel launched on 1 October 2020 and will be available until 31 March 2021.
Speaking on the partnership between Zoomoo and DStv, MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director Nancy Matimu says “The partnership with Kids and Global Networks demonstrates our commitment to providing engaging and educational content for all our viewers. Educational children’s content is an important part of learning and development and this channel brings just that!”
MultiChoice’s New Channels
Besides the partnership with Zoomoo this October, MultiChoice is making changes in its channels.
M-Net will have new channels launching in the coming months. A new channel KIX will be available on DStv Channel 114 for Premium, Compact Plus & Compact customers. This channel seeks to bring viewers the best scenes from all-time favourites Jackie Chan to Bruce Lee.
The firm will also have an M-Net Movies Pop-Up channel, which will host festivals and themed surprises. The pop-up channel will be available on DStv Channel 111 on DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family & Access as they become available.
Additionally, there’s a new English-dubbed Mexican telenovela pop-up channel called TLNovelas which landed on DStv on 14 September 2020. The channel, owned by TELEVISA, Latin America’s 2nd largest producer carries stories of love, betrayal and beautiful people to entertain viewers who love fairytale endings. It is available on DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact packages on channel 133.
Timeless Drama Channel & TVN Channel Timeless Drama Channel will offer a unique genre of high-budget series from Turkish producers set in Istanbul or Anatolia, focusing on riveting stories around Turkish values, symbols and culture with unique soundtracks. TVN will be an explosion in K-Pop and K-drama offering Korean content.
The amount of content has increased with Multichoice’s recent acquisition of ESPN and ESPN2. ESPN’s compelling content and unique personality will be a complementary addition to DStv and GOtv sports offering.
