Young Entrepreneur Awards Voting Phase to End on Sunday

The voting phase for the inaugural Young Entrepreneur Awards 2018 is set to close on Sunday, November 25, at midnight.

Over the past one month, the YEA programme has given Kenyans an opportunity to vote for their favourite young entrepreneurs.

“We have designed these awards to recognize, celebrate and encourage upcoming and industrious young entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 years. We believe that youth entrepreneurship plays a critical role in the Kenyan economy and particularly in the small and medium enterprises sector,” says Tonnie Mello, the founder of the YEA Awards.

The end of the voting phase will culminate in the crowning of the finest entrepreneurs in Kenya, including the best male and female young entrepreneur.

Some of the top corporate firms that have partnered with YEA to host the awards include WYLDE International Limited, Oracle Edge Consulting, Centonomy, a training consultancy firm Synergistic Value, the Valentine’s Cake House, Jumia Kenya, and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

Top winners are expected to walk away with marketing and business support services worth over Sh. 1 million.

“We are thrilled by the response that entrepreneurs have received. This is evidence of the immense potential that this category of entrepreneurship holds,” says Mr. Mello. “With the voting phase about to close, we urge Kenyans to come out and support their favorite youth businessmen and women by casting their votes.”

The awards has 32 nominees battling in 10 categories, including the highly competitive Male and Female Entrepreneur of the Year categories.

The 32 nominees were shortlisted following a call to nominate that was closed on September 20, followed by a shortlisting process by a panel of judges that was concluded on October 26.
