The leading marketing and communication company in Sub Saharan Africa, WPP Scangroup, has named two new non-executive directors to its board. The new directors are, Jason Day and Shahid Sadiq, and their appointment will take effect on 8th February 2021.
Jason Day is 32 years old and is set to be the youngest member on the board. He joined WPP in 2012. Since 2016, Jason has served as the Business Development Director, leading Global New Business Initiatives. Prior to that, he led client engagements at WPP Buchanan and at Hill+Knowlton. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford Said Business School and a Bachelors degree in Politics from the University of Durham.
Shahid Sadiq is 47 years old. He is the Global CFO of WPP Specialist Communications and Public Relations. He is charged with managing the financial and operational objectives of a diverse group of companies. Before that, Shahid worked at Geometry as the CFO and Chief Operating Officer in charge of Europe, Middle East and Africa. He helped transform the UK firm from “a traditional legacy activation network to a new offer structured to deliver creative commerce solutions.”
The board of directors at WPP Scangroup will now have 9 members following the appointment of Jason and Shahid. The company directors welcomed the new appointees to the board.
WPP Scangroup began as a marketing services company in Kenya in 1999. In August 2006, it listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. It currently has operations in 25 Sub Saharan countries with majority owned businesses in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast.
