The World Bank Group has pledged KSh8 billion ($80M) to the Kenyan government to combat COVID-19 and desert locusts.
Kenya has so far confirmed three COVID-19 cases as of Sunday 15/03. The bank committed Ksh6.2 billion ($60M) to help the national government to respond to Covid-19 in the country.
In a statement via the World Bank Kenya Twitter page, the financial institution announced activation of Ksh1.4 billion ($14M) to enhance the control of the desert locust invasion in Kenya. The funds are drawn from the Contingency Emergency Response Component of the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture.
