Will Kenya host 2025 IAAF World Championships?

The IAAF World Championships in athletics are right around the corner and will happen this summer. From July 15 to July 24, you will be able to watch the World Championships in Athletics, postponed from 2021.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is hosting the championship held in Eugene, Oregon, in the United States. Kenya is well known for being really good at athletics, and there have now been speculations if this will also be the hosting country when it is held in 2025. Betting on events such as this has become very popular, and many are looking to wager on both Kenyan athletes and foreigners. You can already start planning your bets for this year’s event and look up score predictions online.

    Postponed events

The IAAF World Championships are held every second year and will be held next year. This is because the event was not held last year as originally planned but got postponed to this summer. As a result, we will have the athletics championship two years in a row and then for the third time in 2025. This is the year when people are speculating if Kenya should be the hosting country. An event of this sort would mean a boost in tourism, as well as make Kenya an even more important actor in the athletics scene. It is also a natural event for Kenya to host, as the nation has produced some leading athletes that have greatly impressed the sport.

    Bidding for the championship

There are many reasons why Kenya should and could be the host country. The country officially submitted a bid to be the host in late April. As a result of this, the Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Sports, Joe Okudo, wooed a team from World Athletics and also assured them that Kenya would be the ideal hosting country for this championship. Furthermore, President Uhuru Kenyatta has stated that Kenya is in the frame to host the World Championship in Athletics in 2025, thus becoming the first African nation to host the global event.

It will be interesting to see what country will host the 2025 World Championship in Athletics and if Kenya will be able to defend its spot as the hosting nation.
