In this third issues of the Weekly Deals Digest, we cover the deals in emerging markets like Argentina, India and Mexico. We also have tidbits from Africa and the rest of the world.
Emerging markets had a total of 31 funding rounds, mostly benefiting startups in the consumer sector. The consumer sector accounted for ten rounds, with a maximum of $24.6 million. Enterprise applications came second at nine rounds, with the Mural recording the highest disclosed funding at $124 million while Logistic tech startups had nine rounds for the week.
Mural, Argentinian cloud-based digital working space raised $ 124 million in Series B funding round. The funding round was led by Insight Partners, Slack, Tiger Global Management, World Innovation Lab, and two other investors. The investment follows a $23 million funding in Series A announced earlier this year. The company reportedly added over a million average monthly users in its whiteboard-like digital environment in 2020.
Smart Digital classroom platform Lead School raised $28 million in a Series c funding led by Westbridge Capital and Elevar Equity. The startup which offers curriculum and tech solutions for schools is now eyeing the private school market in new cities with less than 100,000 population where teacher skills are low. Lead School will use the capital for business development and registering new users.

Mexico’s Yalo Chat, which offers Chatbot development for enterprises raised $15 million, led by Sierra Ventures and B Capital Group. The five year-old startup which companies provide their services over messaging platforms raised $10 million in Series A funding last year.

iSpace – Country; China. Services: Develops and provides commercial launch vehicles for aerospace and maritime defence. Funding: $174M. Investors: CDH Investments, CICC Alpha, Citic Securities, Beijing Street Capital Operation Center and two others.
Authentic Brands Group – Country: USA. Service: Brand development and licensing. Funding: $600M. Investors: BlackRock, General Atlantic, Leonard Green and Partners.
Reliquest – Country; USA. Services: IT solutions and consultancy. Funding: $300M. Investors: Ten Eleven Ventures and KKR.
Top Venture Deals in Africa
DataProphet, an Ai based enterprise solution for quality management, raised $ 6M from Knife Capital and Norican Group. Solar energy projects developer Mullio raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Stanlib. Both companies are based in South Africa.
