Communications Authority of Kenya has appointed Ms. Mercy Wanjau as the Acting Director-General with effect from today to replace incumbent Francis Wangusi. Until her appointment, Ms. Wanjau was CA ‘s director of Legal Services.

Mr. Wangusi has led the regulatory body since 2012.

Ms. Wanjau is a commercial lawyer, and has consulted with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Kenya, and KPMG South Africa,

Confirming the appointment, CA Chairman Ngene Nguku said, “We are confident that Ms. Wanjau has what it takes to coordinate the duties relating to the Director General’s office in the interim pending the appointment of a Director-General on a substantive basis.”

Mr. Wangusi’s second and final term as Director General and CEO of CA ended yesterday, 21st August 2019. Under his leadership, CA realized significant achievements including switching from analog to digital TV broadcasting. The move increased competition in the broadcasting industry.
