Uhuru leads Kenyan delegates to sell Big 4 Agenda in Japan

The Tokyo International Conference on African Development TICAD 7 begins today in Yokohama in Japan. Kenya will pursue its Big 4 agenda and seek to appeal to investors at the conference.

At the same time, the country hopes to enhance bilateral trade between Kenya and Japan in the three-day event, which will run from 28-30 August 2019.

A press statement from State House reads that “…Kenya will be seeking to strengthen its bilateral relations as well as consolidate cooperation with Japan in various sectors of the economy”.

The seventh edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) will host the theme ” Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology and Innovation.”

The conference is set to take place in Yokohama, Japan. Besides, the meeting will allow Japan to cement its interest in Africa, following China’s increased dominance in the continent.

Besides pursuing the Big 4 agenda, Kenya is looking to build upon the progress of TICAD VI. The previous conference was hosted in Nairobi in 2016.

TICAD began in 1990 to enhance Africa’s development agenda. This years’ conference will host attendees from 53 countries. Delegates include heads of states from Kenya, Somalia, Egypt, among other African countries.
