Uchumi Supermarkets posted a pre-tax loss of Kshs 1 Billion in the half-year ended December, 2015, widening its loss of Sh262.3 Million reported in 2014 by around 279%.
Net sales declined by 37.5% to Sh4.2 billion versus Kshs 6.83 billion reported the previous year as cost of goods sold also falling by 37.5% to Sh3.3 billion.
However,Uchumi’s expenses increased by 11.7% to Kshs 2 billion from 2014’s Ksh 1.7 Billion.
