Tuskys Supermarkets has taken over two prime locations in Kisii & Kisumu that were previously occupied by struggling retailer Nakumatt Supermarkets.
The two new stores, located along Moi Avenue in Kisii town while the other is located at Mega Plaza in Kisumu. Tuskys now has two branches in each of the two towns to push up the retailer’s branch network to 64 stores with 57 branches in Kenya and seven in Uganda.
Tuskys CEO said they had negotiated with the owners of the two premises after Nakumatt announced its exit from the stores a few weeks ago. He said they have invested about Kshs 240million in the two new stores.
The CEO, Dan Githua, says the two stores with a cumulative shop floor space of more than 40,000Square feet, will provide an expanded range of economic benefits to the Nyanza region with direct and indirect employment, expanded supply opportunities and wider market choice for customers.
“The opening of Tuskys Echiro along Moi Avenue in Kisii town will serve to further enhance the retailer’s presence in the fast growing Kisii County and its environs. Tusker Mattresses already has a presence in Kisii where it operates the Tuskys Chigware supermarket. On the other hand, the opening of Tuskys Lolwe Supermarket at Mega Plaza will act as an addition to the existing Tuskys United Supermarket located at United Mall, Kisumu.” Tuskys said in a statement.
