Tuskys Supermarket says it has apologized to suppliers whose payments have been restructured as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter dated May 14th, 2020 to Phyllis Wakiaga, CEO Kenya Association of Manufacturers(KAM), Tuskys CEO Mr. Dan Githua said the payments rescheduled in April will be progressively released on in May and to continue to June.
“The payments were prioritized with proposals to be communicated by email. This email communication were to be released directly from 15th May, 2020. All these plans were impacted by COVID-19 that took a toll on the footfall of the retail sector and across the board,” said Githua.
He said supplies done in May and June will be paid for as per pre-COVID-19 arrangements. He adds that beginning July, payments to suppliers will be back to the normal payment cycle.
Tuskys has advised suppliers with accounts reconciliation issues to contact the retailer for purposes of fasttracking the accounting processes.
The retail chain has assured its suppliers, made up of small business owners, that it will continue to support them as part of its vital supply chain.
