    Turnover at NSE Rises to KSh 353 Million

    Turnover at NSE Rises to KSh 353 Million

    Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) increased to KSh 352.98 Million with 16.62 Million shares transacted in 932 deals.

    This is compared to a turnover of KSh 198.2 Million on a volume of 8.25 Million shares transacted in 977 deals when the bourse closed yesterday. The market’s performance improved but was still below the KSh 355 Million posted on Tuesday 11th August 2020.

    The NSE-20 Share Index gained 5 points to 1,743.58 or 0.29% at the end of today compared to 1,738.38 points on Thursday.

    The Kenyan Wallstreet

    The 25-Share Index rose 4.82 points or 0.16% to 2939.83 compared to 2,935.01 points previously.

    The NSE All-Share Index declined 0.19% or 0.24 points to 129.46 points from 129.70 at the end of the previous trading session.

    Top gainers at the bourse were led by Nation Media Group whose prices rose 6.85% to KSh 11.70. It was followed by Sameer Africa Plc whose price rose by 6.38% to KSh 3.50.

    Other gainers were Housing Finance whose prices rose 4.99% to KSh 4.00, Britam at KSh 7.16 (4.37%) and Centum closing at KSh22.60 an increase of 3.67%.

    The biggest loser was Eveready, whose price declined by 7.48% to 99 cents. It was followed by Nairobi Business Ventures(NBV) at 56 cents, a decline of 6.67%, Uchumi at 29 cents, Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation at KSh 2.21( 4.74% decline) and WPP ScanGroup Plc whose price settled at KSh 7.70, a drop of 3.99%.

    The biggest mover was Safaricom with a volume of 5.27Million followed by Ke Re-Insurance( 3.92 Million), KCB(2.32Million), EQTY(2.04Million) and KPLC(795,500 Million).

    The list of corporate actions in the coming week includes payment of KSh 8.00 special dividend to shareholders of WPP ScanGroup.

    BAT closes its book on 21st August for payment of an interim dividend of KSh 3.50 while Umme will pay a final dividend of UGS 3.50 on August 17th, 2020.
