Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) fell to KSh 269.03 Million at the close of trading on 3rd September, 2020. This is compared to a turnover of KSh 1.1 Billion when the bourse closed on Wednesday.
Safaricom maintained its dominance at the bourse, moving 3.23 Million shares trading a high of KSh 30.10 and a low of KSh 29.50. There were 151 deals resulting in a turnover of KSh 97.14 Million with 51.3% participation of foreign investors.
Co-operative Bank moved 1.86 Million shares resulting in a turnover of KSh 22.05 Million in 81 deals with shares trading at a high of KSh 11.90 and a low of KSh 11.80. KPLC moved 1.30 Million shares at the price of between KSh 1.94 and KSh 1.90 on a volume of 1.30 Million and turnover of KSh 2.47 Million.
Other movers at the bourse were KCB which sold 1.20 Million shares and Kenya Reinsurance Corporation which traded a volume of 1.03 Million shares.
The NSE All-Share Index rose from the previous 141.00 to 141.25 this Thursday, an increase of 0.18% or 0.25 points.
The NSE 25 Share Index climbed from 3264.68 points to 3268.68, a rise of 3.86 or 0.12% while the NSE 20 share index increased from 1835.30 to 1852.39, a rise of 17.09 points or 0.93%.
The biggest gainer was WPP Scangroup whose share price rose 10% to KSh 7.70. It was followed by Nation Media Group which was up 9.89% to KSh 15.55, Bank of Kigali 9.67% to KSh 16.45, Total Kenya which was up 9% to KSh 23.00 and Britam which saw its share price appreciate 5.68% to KSh 7.44.
Losing stocks included Sameer Africa whose price fell 10% to KSh 3.60, Unga which fell 9.09% to KSh 30.00, TransCentury down 8.82% to KSh 1.55, Home Africa which sold at 39 cents per share while East African Cables saw its share price dip 6.84% to KSh 1.77.
The derivatives market had 7 contracts valued at KSh 249,800 concluded. This is higher compared to 4 contracts valued at KSh 133,030 concluded in the previous trading session.
The secondary bond market recorded a decline in activity with bonds worth KSh4.86 billion transacted in 127 deals. This is compared to the Kes 6.34 billion achieved in 143 deals previously.
