Toyota Dealers to Make Direct Orders of Vehicles from the Factory

Dealers of Toyota vehicles in Africa can now order vehicles directly from the Toyota Motor Corporation factory without necessarily going through sales and marketing agents of the Japanese automaker.

This move is aimed at increasing efficiency and competitiveness of the automobile dealership in Africa, said TMC.

Previously, dealers across the continent inlcuding Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) ordered vehicles through sales and marketing representatives of TMC.

TTC is the distributor of Toyota vehicles in various African countries including Kenya and Uganda where it owns Toyota Kenya and Toyota Uganda Limited respectively.

“On June 1, 2018, the group and TMC entered into a memorandum of understanding regarding a transfer of TMC’s entire sales and marketing operations in the African market to the group by a tentative date of January 2019,” Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

Toyota owns a 21.69 per cent stake in TTC and has a marketing office in Japan which co-ordinates the sale of all vehicles across Africa.

This direct placement of orders from the factory, will therefore ensure increased competitiveness of the car dealership across the continent.

“In this urgent time, there is no room for intra-group competition; the future of the Toyota Group depends on enhancing its competitiveness as a united whole,” Toyota Motor Corporation said in a statement.
