The Kenya Tourism Board and Visa have launched a joint travel campaign with Kenya Airways offering discounts on domestic and international flights to stimulate travel during the April to September period.
- •Under the promotion, travelers paying with Visa cards will receive a 5% discount on local Kenya Airways flights and up to 8% off inbound international flights when booking using a promotional code.
- •The initiative brings together the country’s tourism marketing agency, a global payments company and the national carrier at a time when Kenya is pushing to strengthen its position as a destination for both domestic and international travelers.
- •The Kenya Tourism Board and Kenya Airways will gain access to travel-spending insights through Visa’s data platform, which the partners plan to use to target specific source markets and refine marketing strategies.
Beyond the discounts, the partnership focuses on using payment-data analytics to improve tourism marketing.
“By leveraging Visa’s global insights on travel and spending patterns, KTB and KQ will gain access to destination-specific intelligence that will shape more precise marketing strategies, optimize resource allocation, and enhance competitiveness,” said KTB CEO, June Chepkemei.
The agreement also includes plans to develop loyalty programs and promote wider adoption of digital payments across the tourism sector, including hotels, travel operators and other businesses serving visitors.
“Through this collaboration, we are leveraging local insights to craft tailored, practical solutions while empowering SMEs across the tourism value chain with advanced digital payment tools. Entrenching card payments seamlessly across travel touchpoints means convenience for visitors and impactful growth for businesses,” said Michael Berner Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager, Southern and Eastern Africa at Visa.
