Competition in Kenya’s fast food market has forced Kenchic to close its eatery outlets from April 2016,saying it will now concentrate on chicken processing activities for supply to local and international markets.

“Effective the 31st March 2016, Kenchic Ltd will discontinue the use of its brand Kenchic Inn. As per the MOU which stipulates that either side can give 30 days’s notice ending on the last day of the nominated month”

Kenchic Inn brand can no longer be used or any of the Kenchic-associated logos, brands or colours,” Read a statement issued by the firm’s operations manager for processing and distributions Philip Carolan.

“Our product will still remain available to all, at the same pricing, and we will continue to supply you as and when required,” said Philip Carolan.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, Dominos, Cold Stone Cremary, Subway and Terriyaki are among international brands that have set up operations in the country in the last two years.

Kenchic in 2014 improved its processing and breeding units with a Sh350M new plant in Thika and a Sh1.5Billion hatchery in Athi River.

Some of the new entrants in the fast food market include;KFC ,Nandos, Chicken Inn,Kentucky Fried Chicken, Dominos, Cold Stone Cremary, Subway and Terriyaki.
