Oil marketer Total Kenya Limited has launched the second edition of Startupper of the Year Challenges looking to grow entrepreneurship in over 55 countries.
Speaking during the launch in Nairobi, Total Kenya corporate programs manager David Ayilo said the firm aims to help ease the pain of high unemployment in the country by empowering young entrepreneurs who in turn become job creators through innovative ideas.
In an effort to support women entrepreneurs, this year’s edition will designate a top female entrepreneur from each country.
The challenge will be open to Start-ups from any field or activity that are less than two years old and proposed by young entrepreneurs bellow the age of 35.
The top three winners will be selected with the winner of the competition receiving Sh2.5 million while the first and second runners-ups will walk away with Sh1.5 million and Sh1 million respectively.
