    NSE Weekly Turnover Rises 53.3% to KSh 2.3B

    NSE Weekly Turnover Rises 53.3% to KSh 2.3B

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Weekly Equity Turnover rose to KSh 2.3 billion on 56 million shares against KSh 1.5 billion on 47.9 million posted the previous week, a decline of 53.3%

    In today’s trading session, the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a turnover of KSh 594Million from KSh301Million; the number of shares traded stood at 9.4Million against 9.6Million posted the previous session.

    With end year earnings season reaching its tail end, the banking sector was the most dominant during the week and had shares worth KSh1.4Million transacted, accounting for 62.36% of the week’s traded value.

    KCB Group declined by 1.35% to KSh.44.00, down from KSh44.60 registered the previous week with shares worth KSh 598Million transacted. Standard Chartered Bank was up 1.61% to KSh142.00, moved 2.9Million shares valued at KSh 409Million. Equity Group Holdings moved 5Million shares valued at KSh 276Million and closed at KSh 51.50.

    Safaricom rose by 4.20% to KSh 35.95, up from KSh 34.50 registered the previous week, with shares worth KSh 584Million transacted; this represented 25.16% of the week traded value.

    The Bond Market registered reduced activity with bonds worth KSh 15Billion transacted compared to 29Billion registered the previous week.

    Other active counters included E. A Breweries, which was up 0.17% to KSh 149.75 and moved 1.65Million shares valued at KSh247Million. B.A.T edged up 0.15% to KSh 491.00 on a volume of 14,000 shares valued at KSh7.3Million.

    Jubilee Holdings moved 15,000 shares worth KSh 4 Million at a fairly stable price of KSh 274.00. Britam Holdings moved 451,000 shares valued at KSh3Million and closed at KSh6.84.
