Boma Yangu has announced that the first phase of Kenya’s affordable housing project will be completed by December 2019. The project comprises of 228 houses.
Charles Hinga, the principal secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development of Kenya stated that construction of the units started in April this year.
The project which is located in Ngara residential estate is the first development under Kenya’s affordable housing program.
The entire project will consist of 1,370 units built for low-income earners.
The second phase of the project is expected to be completed in mid 2020 and the final phase will be completed by the end of next year. The ministry is optimistic about rolling out 500,000 affordable houses by the end of 2022.
