The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 17th and 18th August 2020 recorded 9 million kilograms offered for sale. The amount on offer recorded an increase from 8.3 million kilograms offered for sale during the same period last year, and a decrease from 10.5 million kilograms during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 7.9 million kilograms were sold compared to 7.6 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019, and 9 million kilograms in the previous sale.
The tea auction sale recorded a slight increase in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.94, compared to $1.90 for the same period last year, and $1.88 during the previous sale, held on 10th, 11th and 12th August 2020.
