The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 26th, 27th, and 28th July 2021 had 10.8 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer decreased from 11.7 million kilograms for the same period last year, and from 12.4 million kilograms offered during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 9.3 million kilograms were sold, compared to 10.6 million kilograms for the same period last year, and 6.8 million kilograms sold during the previous sale.
The tea auction recorded a sharp increase in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.86, compared to $1.59 during the previous sale held on 19th, 21st, and 22nd July 2021, but decreased from $1.83 during the same period last year.
