The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 24th, 25th and 26th May 2021 had 12.8 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer increased from 12.6 million kilograms for the same period last year, and 12.2 million kilograms during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 12 million kilograms were sold, compared to 10 million kilograms for the same period last year, and 11.5 million kilograms during the previous sale.
The tea auction recorded an increase in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.88, compared to $1.84 during the previous sale held on 17th, 18th, and 19th May 2021, and $1.83 for the same period last year.
