The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 7th, 8th and 9th September 2020 recorded 8.97 million kilograms offered for sale. The amount on offer recorded an increase from 8.2 million kilograms offered for sale during the same period last year, and a decrease from 9.1 million kilograms during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 7.6 million kilograms were sold compared to 6.98 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019, and 7.9 million kilograms in the previous sale.
The tea auction sale recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.98, compared to $2.05 for the same period last year. During the previous sale, held on 1st and 2nd September 2020, prices were still $1.98 per kilogram.
