The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 7th, 8th, and 9th February 2022 had 12.5 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer decreased from 12.8 million kilograms during the previous sale, and from 13.9 million kilograms during a similar period last year.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 11.2 million kilograms were sold compared to 11 million kilograms sold during the previous sale, and 12.9 million kilograms sold during the same period last year.
The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.57, compared to $2.60 during the previous sale held on 31st January, 1st, and 2nd February 2022, but increased from $1.95 during the same period last year.
