The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 22nd, 23rd and 24th March 2021 had 12.7 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer increased from 12.5 million kilograms offered in the same period last year, and from 12.6 million kilograms offered in the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 11.1 million kilograms were sold compared to 9.7 million kilograms sold in the same period last year, and 11.3 million kilograms sold during the previous sale.
The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.88, compared to $1.89 during the previous sale held on 15th, 16th and 17th March 2021, but increased from $1.86 for the same period last year.
