The Tax Appeals Tribunal (TAT) has delivered 23 tax appeal judgments with a revenue implication of Ksh11 billion.

The appeals tackled in December were in relation to Withholding Income Tax, tax on winnings from loterries and betting, Customs under declaration on values of imports, Corporation tax, Pay as You Earn (PAYE), Excise Duty (Domestic), and VAT refunds claims.

The tribunal came in office in June 2019. It has presided over 112 appeals with disputed tax amounting to Ksh53 billion.

The legal services team at KRA is optimistic that more taxpayers will embrace the tribunal as a key arbitrator of first call and avoid lengthy and costly litigation processes.
