Tatu City has selected Landis & Gyr and Honeywell for its smart utility infrastructure. Tatu Connect will work with both global leaders to improve the efficiency of power and water usage through smart metering. The company will invest in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), allowing remote monitoring of smart metering devices. Honeywell will provide industrial meters for businesses in the special economic zone. On the other hand, Landis & Gyr will offer devices for domestic and commercial use.
“Advanced Metering Infrastructure and smart meter rollouts like Tatu City are highly complex projects which impact utility operations and revenue assurance extensively. It is therefore important that a holistic approach is used where AMI is built around a versatile software platform like ecWIN™ and supported with best in class advanced smart metering, cost-effective communication technology with fast connectivity and high data security,” said Roger Rebelo, Head of Utilities and Urban Services at Tatu Connect.

AMI will allow stakeholders to monitor power and water usage remotely, giving customers more control over their consumption. The infrastructure features a two-way communication system, allowing reliable communication between utilities and customers.
For customers, the implementation of AMI will mean greater control over the cost of utilities and fewer outages. Similarly, will allow remote detection of tampering and accurate and timely billing among other operational efficiencies.
