Tanzania Bars KQ from its Airports

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has issued a statement nullifying its approval for the Kenya Airways (KQ) flights between Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar with effect from 1st August 2020, until further notice.

This follows Kenya’s plans to exclude Tanzania from the list of countries whose citizens will be allowed into the country when the international flights resume today, 1st August 2020.

In a communiqué announced by Transport CS James Macharia, China, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Uganda, France, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Switzerland and Morocco who have mild and limited community transmission will be allowed.

According to the communiqué, all the passengers arriving in the country will be required to produce a PCR based Covid-19 certificate whose test should have been done 96 hours before travel.

On 18th May 2020, Tanzania reopened its airspace to both scheduled and non-scheduled international flights after remaining closed for a month in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
