    Stock Market Weekly Market Report

    The Equity Market closed the week with 146 Million shares valued at KSh2.7Billion against 133Million shares valued at KSh3.2Billion transacted the previous week.


    The NSE 20 share index was down 30.83 points or 1.57% to stand at 1938.62. All Share Index (NASI) dropped 6.83 points or 4.72% to stand at 137.75. The NSE 25 Share index shed off 100.95 points or 3.03% to stand at 3231.32.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh754Million transacted which accounted for 27.07% of the week’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings declined by 2.23% to KSh35.05, down from KSh 35.85 registered the previous week with shares worth KSh244Million transacted.

    ABSA Bank Kenya was up 2.43% to KSh10.10 and moved 22.9M shares valued at KSh229Million. KCB Group moved 5Million shares valued at KSh188Million and closed at KSh36.40.

    The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth KSh104Million transacted which accounted for 3.76% of the week’s traded value. KenGen recorded an 8.57% gain to close the week at KSh5.32 with shares worth KSh87Million transacted. Kenya Power & Lighting was up 8.70% to KSh2.00 moved 7.9Million shares worth KSh15Million.

    The Insurance Sector had shares worth KSh57Million transacted which accounted for 2.07% of the week’s traded value. Kenya-Re moved 21.9Million shares worth KSh46Million at a fairly stable price of KSh2.22.

    The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth KSh348Million transacted which represented 12.52% of the week’s traded value. E.A Breweries slipped 2.86% to KSh170.00 with shares worth KSh176M transacted.

    B.A.T edged up 1.35% to KSh320.00 with shares worth KSh171Million transacted.

    The Derivatives Market closed the week with a total of 27 contracts valued at KSh 803,000.

    The Bond Market witnessed improved activity with bonds worth KSh20Billion transacted compared to KSh11.9Billion registered the previous week.

    Both Total Kenya and Kenya Airways held their first virtual AGMs this Friday with Stanbic Bank expected to hold a similar meeting next week on 29th June, 2020.

    The 65th Annual General Meeting for Stanbic Holdings Plc will be held as a virtual meeting by electronic means on Friday 26th June 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
