The Board of the Nation Media Group (NMG) PLC has announced the appointment of Stephen Waithaka Gitagama as the Group chief executive officer starting from June 7, 2018. Mr Gitagama has been the acting Group CEO since February 1 this year, replacing Mr Joe Muganda who left to take a new role at Vivo Energy after less than three years at Nation.
Mr Gitagama is the director of the Group’s subsidiaries Monitor Publications Limited in Uganda and Mwananchi Communications Limited in Tanzania. In addition, he is the director of the Group’s associated company PDM (Holdings) Limited.
The new Group CEO, who formerly worked as a finance director at Kenya Breweries, is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) and holds a Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor’s of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi.
