State Corporations to Delay Submitting Financial Reports

State corporations are likely to further delay the announcement of financial reports pending appointment of the Auditor General (AG).

The National Assembly will take a long recess from today, December 5, 2019, to February 10 2020.

In this case, the earliest the National Assembly can vet and approve the nominee forwarded by the President is in early March.

Already, Kenya Power and KenGen have already notified their shareholders and CMA about the extended date for the release of their reports.

Former AG Edward Ouko left office in August following completion of his 8-year non-renewable tenure.

State Controlled companies must secure the Auditor General’s approval for reporting the audited financial results.

Capital Markets Authority stipulates that companies must publish their results within three months after the close of the review period.

    Nominees

The Public Service Commission had submitted a list of 17 nominees to the President.

Among those, 10 are from the Auditor General’s office and include Deputy Auditor General William Agunda, David Gichana, Edwin Kamar, Sylvester Kiini, Alex Rugera, Nancy Gachungu, Dennis Kariuki, Leonard Lari, Elizabeth Mwathi, Francis Njenga and David Kanja.
