The Government of Kenya through the Kenya Bureau of Standards has appointed new inspectors of imported cars, mobile equipment, and spare parts, a move that seeks to enhance the efficiency of the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity to Standards services.
The newly appointed inspectors of imported cars and parts, M/s EAA Company Limited and Auto-Terminal Japan Company (ATJ), will inspect vehicles shipped from Japan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, United Kingdom (UK), and Thailand.
The appointment took effect on 27th March 2020 and will last one year.
The new agencies will work alongside Quality Inspection Services Japan (QISJ), whose contract is still valid.
The mobile equipment such as agricultural tractors, bulldozers, trailers, excavators, movable cranes, and any other off-road vehicles will also undergo the inspection.
Furthermore, in countries where the agencies mentioned above are not contracted to provide inspection services, the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) will carry out the inspection at the point of entry.
