Digital television Company StarTimes Media today rolled out an aggressive campaign aimed at growing its subscriber base for the satellite pay television service. Under the new agreement, Kenyans will now get a free full High Definition (HD) satellite decoder on subscribing to a bouquet of choice for Sh2,499.

The Sh2,499 subscription fee will offer Kenyans with existing dish kits the option to enjoy one month’ worth of the company’s Super Bouquet package, two and a half months of the  Smart Bouquet package or five months of the Nova Bouquet package, with access to over 100, 70 and 35 local and international channels respectively.

Speaking on this latest development, StarTimes Vice President Mark Lisboa said the move is aimed at making it increasingly affordable for Kenyans to access digital television through the company’s satellite television service which now covers 100 per cent of the country.

“We have waived the previous satellite decoder cost of Sh999 to make it easier for Kenyans to enjoy our satellite television service which currently covers the whole country making it ideal for both urban and rural households to access our digital television service,” he said.

Existing StarTimes satellite subscribers will also enjoy an extra week of content valued at Sh625 for every month subscribed to the Super Bouquet. For every month subscribed to the Smart Bouquet, customers will enjoy an equivalent one month on Sports Plus Bouquet valued at Sh600 giving access to all the major exclusive sports properties broadcasted by the pay television company including Bundesliga and Serie A.

StarTimes has equally introduced an offer for the company’s new and existing subscribers on its digital terrestrial platform where new subscribers who acquire the StarTimes terrestrial decoder for Sh949 will enjoy 6 weeks, 3 weeks or 2 weeks free access to the sports plus bouquet on enrolling to the Basic, Classic or Unique bouquet respectively before the 28th ofFebruary, 2016.

Existing subscribers will enjoy 1 month’s access to the Sports Plus Bouquet for each month subscribed to either Basic or Classic bouquet for Sh499 or Sh999 respectively while Unique bouquet subscribers will enjoy an extra week for each month subscribed to the bouquet that is currently retailing at Sh2,099.

The full installation for a StarTimes Satellite Television kit will now cost Sh4,499: Sh2,000 for a Dish, LNB, 20m Cable and accessories in addition to the Sh2,499 subscription fee that will also secure a free satellite decoder.

“Our strategy is to remain competitively priced while equally availing premium television content as seen by our recent acquisition of exclusive sports and other entertainment related programming that has so far proved popular with our Kenyan subscribers,” concluded Mr. Lisboa.
