    StanChart Kenya COO Joins Board

    The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited has announced the appointment of Mr Peter Gitau as Executive Director with effect from 30th April, 2020.

    Mr Gitau is the current Chief Operating Officer responsible for the Bank’s operations delivery in East Africa. He has been with Standard Chartered Bank for 17 years with huge local and international expertise in operations, technology and risk management.

    Previously, Mr Gitau has been Chief Information Officer in Kenya, Africa Regional Head of Audit and in Singapore where he was the Group Head of Controls for Wholesale Bank Technology and Operations.

    He is a certified accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. He has also previously worked in the assurance services practice at Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

    Mr Gitau joins other directors of Stanchart Bank including Mr.Patrick Obath (Chairperson to the Board) Mr.Kariuki Ngari (CEO), Richard Etemesi (non-executive director and past CEO) Chemutai Murgor (Executive Director, Finance), Dr. Catherine Adeya-Weya (Independent Non-Executive Director), Nancy Oginde (Board Secretary), Ian Bryden (Non-Executive Director and Imtiaz Khan, Kellen Eileen Kariuki and Mr David Ong’olo (all Independent Non-Executive Directors).
