Betting firm SportPesa has made a comeback to the Kenyan betting scene after more than a year. In a twitter post, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri made the revelation stating the firm will be under a new Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) license.
Milestone Games Limited acquired the rights to use the SportPesa brand name in Kenya thus marking the return of the betting giant.
SportPesa exited the Kenyan market in September 2019 following revocation of its license by BCLB for failure to meet tax compliance policies. At the time, the SportPesa management lamented high taxes that weighed down on the stakes as the government imposed a 20 percent tax on all betting stakes. The exit saw the firm send home more than 400 employees.
