Somalia has resumed international flights today after temporarily banning the flights four and a half months ago to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The resumption follows a statement by the Immigration and Naturalization Directorate of Somalia issued on August 1, 2020, allowing international flights into the country.
Schools and universities in the state will reopen on August 15, following a government order.
A report by the council of Ministers of the Somalia government stated that foreign travel will resume on Monday, August 03, 2020.
Travelers entering the country will require a certificate showing that they tested negative for the Coronavirus, issued at least three days before their arrival.
“Every traveler entering the country is required to have COVID-19 Negative certificate and to have taken a maximum of 72 hours prior to travel following the country’s anti-COVID policy. The Somali immigration and National Agency is requesting and urging travel and transport agents to observe and inform their customers of the new COVID-19 infection control policy, which requires a medical certificate.”
The country resumed domestic flights on July 5.
