Local low-cost carrier Silverstone Air on Monday sent one-month redundancy letters to its pilots and crew members.
The move follows grounding of the Airline’s Dash-800 fleet following a series of mishaps. Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) grounded the airline for seven days pending investigations into the safety concerns.
Moreover, the suspension of passenger services has hurt Silverstone’s revenues considering that the tourist season is at peak and the holidays are near.
Furthermore, the mass cancellation of tickets has tainted the brand thus limiting the commercial viability of the airline.
The redundancy notice takes effect from November 18, 2019, and will see the airline halt operations pending the completion of KAA investigations.
