One of the major South African retailers Shoprite has set plans to expand and open shop in Mombasa and Nairobi. Shoprite is expected to open a supermarket in City Mall Mombasa and another in one of the malls in Nairobi to be an addition to the already existing shoprite stores in Garden City Mall and Westgate Mall.
According to the Shoprite Kenya General Manager Andrew Mweemba, the City Mall store is expected to provide its customers with an extensive range of quality products including imported items from all over the world. The outlet will also have a seating area in the supermarket for the customers who will opt to enjoy food that will be prepared at the store’s fresh food department.
Mr Andrew Mweemba says that Shoprite has a lot of potential operating in Kenya and they have positive expectations about the prospect of expanding as it will provide employment opportunities and contribute to the enyan economy.
