    Sendy Revolutionising E-commerce in Kenya

Sendy is a Logistics Kenyan-born, African trade platform that delivers products form retailers to consumers allowing customers to track and get their orders conveniently on time.

E-commerce in Kenya has been evolving at a rapid pace especially in the wake of COVID-19 which saw most customers prefer to shop for goods online rather than go physically to the store. A study conducted showed that in 2020 the number of online orders increased by 300% with many people avoiding large crowded areas like malls and shopping close to home.

As a result platforms like Sendy have emerged which reduce the consumer journey but also increase the reach of products to customers through targeted social media marketing, interactions with consumers as well as targeted messages to consumers.

Sendy, receives the goods on behalf of the seller, ships the goods to the desired location, packages them and sends to the customers. Through Sendy, retailers are able to focus more on sales and returns as they focus on delivery of the products to the customers.

Sendy recently introduced a fulfilment service from online retailers that performs logistics roles or alleviates logistics difficulties from online sellers while also shielding them from high operation costs that are often associated with logistics.

The fulfilment service packs and ships orders to customers for a fee of 13 percent of their product’s selling price. To note, the price is also inclusive of picking up an order from a vendor’s location, three shipping attempts, 60 days of storage, and inventory tracking.

The fulfilment service was established as a move to support the booming e-commerce business in the country by helping business reach more customers while focusing on the inventory.

The logistics company has partnered with more than one hundred thousand brands across the continent including Safaricom, Multi Choice ,carrefour, Unilever among others.

Sendy also partnered with META Electric, an electric vehicle dealer and leaser, in a move to expand its inventory of four-wheel delivery vans available to its clients on its digitized platform, at a lower cost, and in a cleaner environment, at a time when customer demand for shipments of freight weighing more than 500 kilograms is surging.

Through the logistics company, many businesses have been able to penetrate the growing e-commerce space by easy and faster delivery to the customers.
