Kenyan tech-logistics startup Sendy launched a digital-enabled fulfillment service targeting online retailers. The service enables online retailers to focus on growing their inventory and getting clients while it focuses on delivering the goods to them.
Sendy fulfillment was launched in November 2021 in Nairobi county with the main fulfilment centre used for storage located on Waiyaki Way however there are other small centres, which act as pickup and drop off points, located in the city centre, Westlands, Ngong Road, Rongai. Thika, Mombasa Road, and Eastleigh.
During an interview with the Kenyan wallstreet, the General Manager for East Africa Chris Nyaga revealed that so far the fulfillment service has been able to bring on board more than 1000 online retailers who have been able to benefit from the fulfillment services and focus on growing their businessesADVERTISEMENT
Following the success of the service, Chris Nyaga said they were looking to expand across all counties in Kenya by March 2022.
” we started the fulfillment service in Nairobi fulfilling orders for clients. However slowly based on the growth of the sellers we are looking to expand to other towns…we are scheduled to be live across all the counties by the end of March.”

The fulfillment service picks, packs, and ships orders to customers for a fee of 13% of the product’s selling price. The price includes picking up the shipment from the vendor’s location, three shipping attempts, 60 days of storage, and inventory tracking.
The service also offers an inventory management service where sellers can request for their goods to be picked from consignment services, check on the inventory and check on the status of their delivery to customers.
Mr Nyaga pointed out that the launch of the Sendy fulfillment app has seen more buyers lean to online shopping seeing as they are able to do last minute delivery of quality products.
However, sellers have been the biggest benefactors of the service as they do not have to worry about storage of their goods or delivery to their customers.
” we have made the service in a way that is very convenient for the sellers to focus on generating more orders for themselves and focus on their customers at a [very affordable rate]. The service has also brought formality to sellers and created more trust for their brands as we also check on quality as we bring in the items to breach the trust issue.”
