WeRide, China’s smart mobility company, has launched the pilot period of self-driving taxis in Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong Province.
During the launch, a number of L4-class autonomous driving cars, named RoboTaxi, was introduced to roads in a 144 square kilometer area in the city. This is because the level 4 cars are only fully autonomous in controlled areas.
WeRide’s newest autonomous driving software and hardware are installed in the cars.
Passengers can order a taxi via the WeRide-developed app “WeRideGo.”
