The managing director of SAP East Africa Dr Gilbert Saggia has stepped down effective immediately.
A reliable source has told Kenyan Wall Street that Dr Saggia was shown the door for under-performance as has failed to hit targets and his performance has been worse compared to his predecessor.
The company’s staff was notified on Monday, 6 August 2018, on Dr Gilbert’s departure.
Dr Saggia joined the technology firm on December 5, 2016, after leaving Oracle System Limited. SAP at the time said they had employed Dr Saggia to “drive the company towards cloud adoption.” He was also responsible for overseeing the company’s digital platform and pan-African skill development projects.
Dr Saggia has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from Tulane University in the USA. Before serving at Oracle, he was the regional manager of East Africa at Cisco Systems and the sales solutions manager at Siemens in Belgium.
“Dr Saggia’s experience and skills in championing digital transformation in the public and private sectors, especially in healthcare, as well as his experience with cloud technologies perfectly complement our ambitions in the region. We look forward to seeing how he shapes and leads our vision, strategy, and execution in East Africa, and enhances the value we bring to our customers’ businesses,” said the managing director SAP Africa Brett Parker at the time of his appointment in 2016.
