Safaricom's CFO Sateesh Kamath Takes Up New Role in Vodafone

Safaricom CFO Sateesh Kamath will take up a new role as the new Chief Financial Officer for Vodafone Business. Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said in a statement that the company would name his successor by July 1st. Kamath will join the Vodafone Group Finance leadership team and therefore report to Vodafone CEO Vinod Kumar.

In his four years, Kamath played a critical role in growing shareholder value and making the company future fit.

“He is credited with among many other achievements, helping to build Safaricom Shareholders’ value by 50% to KES 1.2 trillion,” CEO Ndegwa said.

The CFO held a critical role in completing the Mpesa Joint Venture acquisition from Vodafone and purchasing an essential spectrum. Additionally, Ndegwa reveals that Kamath was key to the company’s transition from Bob Collymore.
