Safaricom has released its full-year results for the period ended 31st March with net income increasing by 14.7% to a record Sh 63.4 billion while revenue rising by 7% to Sh 240.3 billion.
Voice service revenue grew by 0.3% to KES 95.94 billion while M-PESA revenue grew by 19.2% to Sh 74.99 billion making the two the largest contributors to revenue.
Mobile data revenue increased by 6.4% to sh 38.69bn while messaging revenue declined by 1.3% to sh 17.50bn.
The telco’s total customer base increased by 7.7% to 31.8m while its 30-day active M-PESA customers increased 10.2% to 22.6m. 30-day active mobile data customers increased by 6.6% to 18.8m.
The telco declared sh.50 billion in general dividend and a further sh.24.8 billion in its first special dividend payout.
